Glossary

A list of words and abbreviations commonly used in the Vaticy documentation.

Alert

Alerts are notifications intended to prompt intervention when a system encounters issues that may affect its reliability which is called an incident. Alerts are raised when a set condition has been reached.

Incident

An unplanned event that disrupts normal service operation, potentially leading to a degradation of service quality or a complete outage.

Investigation

The process of analyzing as many datasources and gathering evidences for understanding the system behavior, to identify the root-cause of an incident and implement effective mitigation.

Evidence

Any piece of information collected during an investigation process that is relevant and used for understanding and mitigating the incident.

Evidences are collected from different data source.

Data Source

Any service which provides data and information

Mitigation

Immediate actions taken to reduce the impact of an incident, aiming to minimize damage while a more comprehensive resolution is developed.

Agent

A component deployed on Kubernetes that performs specific tasks, such as monitoring and management, on behalf of a central management system.

Kubernetes

Kubernetes is an open-source container orchestration platform that automates the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
